Every client & athlete is structured a bit differently and will require an individualized setup with regards to their squat and deadlift. Likewise, how each person executes those lifts will be influenced by their anatomy.

The fitness industry has been lulled into the idea that asymmetry is "bad" and that it must be fixed at all costs. Likewise, many textbooks will showcase that symmetry is the panacea of health & performance. However, we don't live in textbooks...and how we set up and execute specific lifts (squats and deadlifts) will be highly influenced by individual variances in anatomy, as well as unique injury history and ability level.

In this presentation Tony will showcase his "umbrella" approach to hip assessment and how he ascertains which squat & deadlift variations are best suited for his athletes and clients.

-  Asymmetry isn't necessarily bad and we need to lean into it more.
-  Individual variances in anatomy will have an influence on what squat & deadlift variations will be best.
-  Assessment should consist of both an active AND passive component.
